The Ionian Islands
A clash of culture, beauty and sights...

The Ionian islands are a big attraction to Greece. They feature many of the classical features you come to expect of Greece. These island get a lot of rain first and foremost. Because of that you're going to experience some extremely green islands. These islands have some lush greenery and environment, some of the greenest grass I've ever seen in my life. These islands differ from each other greatly, so I will do a paragraph on the major ones.

Corfu is the first island I'm going to discuss. Corfu is nicknamed the British Greek Island because of its British influences. Now why is it nicknamed the British Greek island? Well first and foremost it used to be under the rule of the British empire. The second reason is because of how travel agencies package their trips. It's a known fact that you can go to Corfu and get the party of your life. You have cheep booze, great food, and fast times on the Island's who attractions are reminiscent of London, England. Corfu boasts an international airport bringing in travelers directly to this island if you wish. There are also boat trips to Italy and other places daily, so if you want variety, land here, go all around, go to Italy, enjoy the city.

Ithaki is the next island that I'm going to tell you about. You can't think about Greece without thinking about the island that the philosopher Homer wrote about. Olive groves, ahh the olives. This place is filled with olive trees and lots of vineyards. Greek Olives are some of the best I must admit, but anyways back to the island. This is a small island and it's a good spot if you're looking for some hiking and other outdoorsy places. Motorboat safaris are also a major attraction to the island.

Kefallonia, what a mouthful. This place brings a lot of Italians and brits because of the travel packages arraigned and promoted to them. This is a large lush green island that has a lot of beaches and excellent resorts. During the hot times of the year finding a room can truly be a mission impossible, so if you're coming plan for that ahead of time.

The last island I'm going to talk about is the island of Zakynthos, an island that has one of the most famous spots in Greece. Shipwreck beach is a photographers dream to photograph, so if you're looking for an Ionian island that offers lots in the way of pictures then pick this island. This island is also has some issues regarding the endangered sea turtles and their eggs. The development of beaches is helping to drive them extinct, so if you care about that sort of thing don't visit. I think you can have a lot of fin on these islands, so go and check em out today!
