Attika Zoo
The Second Biggest Bird Exhibit in the World.

So you're in the area of West or East attika, and you're looking for something to do. By the way, attika is a Prefecture of Greece located to the north of Athens. In attika you will find a hidden treasure that many people don't know about. I didn't know about it till I started planning vacations and articles about Greece. The attika Zoological Park is the second biggest bird exhibit in the world, flaunting all kinds of rare and endangered species of birds. This is an in your face zoo, where birds will come right up to you and interact with the guests. So if you're a bird lover this place is for you. The zoo itself is split up into sections and each section containing a different type of birds. The smaller birds live in living room sized cages where they can fly around free, still bigger than most zoos. And the bigger birds they fly around in gardens, lush and beautiful just walking through these ecosystems is enough reason to check this place out.

The Zoo is a member of the European Association of Zoos and Aquariums. This association has some of the toughest standards for the care of animals in captivity in the world. The zoo also specializes in the breeding of endangered species and they keep a great number of the endangered there. The zoo is a huge park, offering a spacious experience. There's a variety of shops and places inside of the zoo, and the zoo's educational program towards its guests is one of the most top notch in the world. There are a lot of birds that will catch your eyes from places all around the globe. Ostriches, Pelicans, Toucans, storks and more are waiting for you at this zoo. Animals from the Mediterranean and animals from Africa and south America are also there waiting on you. So whether you're stuck in the nearby airport for a few hours, or if your coming up from Athens this place is a stop for you.

The hours are a bit strange, its opened from nine in the morning until sunset. The reason I say that its strange is because the times vary day by day whenever the sun sets. The zoo is about average cost, eleven Euros for adults which translates to about fifteen maybe more American. Children are nine Euros and children under the age of three get in free. The exact location is in At Yalu Spata, it can be gotten to by bus, if you take the 319 you can access it from the ministry of defense. If you are driving take the attika road and get off on Exit 18. If your coming from Elfesina (another one of my favorite spots) then take exit 16p. Wherever you are, if your near attika stop by here! You'll be happy you did.
